Fundraiser for Local Humane Society

One of the things that makes Grand Forks such a great place to live is the generosity and caring spirit of the people. From small charity parties held in the homes in Grand Forks ND to larger city-wide events, giving back to the community and helping others is a way of life. One of the recent events was a fundraiser for the Circle of Friends Humane Society, which was organized by Crary Real Estate.

The fundraiser took place June 20 at Lincoln Drive Park, showing that businesses and local individuals care about the well-being of the city’s animals. Crary Real Estate hosted the fourth annual Hot Dogs for Homeless Dogs fundraiser, with the help of other local business sponsors.

The BBQ dinner on offer included hot dogs, chips, dessert, and a drink, for a free-will offering, with many people giving generously. The event wasn’t limited to a fun BBQ, though. There were plenty of events to keep people entertained and to help raise money for this important cause. There was a demonstration by the GFPD K9 unit to impress the audience, as well as a shelter pet runway show, showcasing some of the many wonderful animals available for adoption from the Circle of Friends Humane Society shelter.

The audience also got to get in on the entertainment, showing off their pets’ skills and style. There was Kittsona’s Best Dressed Pet Contest, Stay & Play’s Best Trick Contest, and Treat, Play, Love’s Fastest Fetch Contest. There were also five separate raffles sponsored by local businesses, with prizes worth up to $250, as well as a 50/50 drawing with a prize minimum of at least $1000. With tickets just $5, plenty of people were more than happy to purchase plenty of tickets for a chance at the many great prizes.

The event, in its fourth year, shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, they had a record attendance with up to 1000 people coming out to take part in this wonderful charity event, where all proceeds went to the Circle of Friends Humane Society.

If you’ve recently purchased one of the homes in Grand Forks ND, and want to participate in some other fundraisers and events, there’s plenty still to come this year. In September, there will be the Family Fun Run (as part of the Wild Hog GF Marathon). In October, there is the Community Pumpkin Patch, and December offers up the Holly Dazzle Festival of Lights Parade. There’s nothing like combining a good time with a good deed!
