Get Your Outdoor Space Summer-Ready

It’s time to start preparing your homes in Grand Forks ND for lots of summer fun. With schools finishing up and temperatures warming up, your yards are likely to get a lot of use this summer. If you’ve got visions of parties and lots of outdoor barbecues, it’s time to make sure your outdoor space is ready to entertain.

Depending on the state of your patio or deck after a long winter, you may want to rent or buy a pressure cleaner to get everything from the ground up looking fresh and clean without having to get down on your hands and knees and scrub.

If your patio furniture is in good shape but the cushions and covers are looking rough, now is the perfect time to put on new weather-proof covers in a beautiful color or print that will bring life to your outdoor area. In fact, when preparing your outdoor space, keep your indoor decor in mind. Just because furnishings are outdoors doesn’t mean they can’t be stylish and comfortable. Turn your patio into another living room or family room. You want a space where you and your family and friends are comfortable and happy to be for hours on end.

One of the biggest trends and a great way to really pull a space together is the use of outdoor rugs. They make it easy to arrange furniture around the space into a layout that is inviting. Don’t forget to set up a mix of chairs, loveseats, and tables so that people have a place to put food and drinks and can settle in for easy conversation.

Buying a brand new outdoor furniture set makes it easy to pick up some of the latest trends and colors, but even if you’re keeping your older set, you can pull together any mismatched pieces by the use of matching throw pillows or other aspects of color continuity. Choose some accessories in a single bold, bright color or pattern to make everything look cohesive.

Adding in some potted or hanging plants, especially at varying heights, will add additional appeal to the area. Choose either brightly colored flowers or colorful pots for the plants. And don’t forget the mulch! Even if your garden beds still need some work, simply putting down a layer of mulch creates a clean framework that adds a finishing touch.

Finally, don’t forget the lighting. Make the most of the warm summer evenings and include some cozy lights that add atmosphere and let you stay outdoors longer. Candles are nice, or you could use solar-powered lights along the edge of your patio or walkway, or really create an enchanting space by using long strings of small lights around the patio or draped among trees. These long strings of light allow you to get creative and find the best arrangement for your needs.

With just a few updates, homes in Grand Forks NDwill be ready for a long, entertaining summer.
