Ultimate Checklist for Your Luxury New Home

When buying a new home, it’s nice to make some upgrades from your previous home. With new construction homes in Grand Forks, you have even more opportunities to choose the finishes and other features that really take a home from lovely to luxury. Here are some things to consider including in your own new home for the luxe life.

While North Dakota winters are chilly, you can still make the most of your outdoor seating area if you include an outdoor fireplace. Whether you choose a permanent fireplace or a moveable fire pit, make sure you have a nice area in the backyard to enjoy it as long as possible. Plus, it’s a great way to invite neighbors over and get to know them.

An extra garage extension or workshop area is a great way to keep your cars stored safely indoors, but still give you room for more storage, such as holiday decorations, or even to serve as a workshop depending on your hobbies. That extra space will always come in handy.

The more walk-in closets you have, the better. Some primary suites even have two to make sure everyone has enough space. Even smaller ones in secondary bedrooms are a great idea, because they make clothing storage so much easier and provide room for additional storage for shoes, bags, and more. Don’t forget to make sure you have linen closets in or near the bathrooms for additional storage needs.

Consider creating your own spa-like bathroom. Whether it’s a spacious shower with multiple shower heads and a built-in bench, or separate shower and bath with jets in the bath, think about what will help you relax and unwind the best. An impressive bathroom, especially with a skylight, can really create a sense of luxury.

Similarly, build the kind of kitchen you can easily imagine cooking and spending time in with the family. After all, the kitchen tends to be the heart of the home, even if it’s just sitting at the kitchen island chatting about the day with family or friends. A kitchen designed to give you the storage and counterspace you need to cook everything from simple meals to family holiday feasts will always be appreciated.

Finally, think about including some smarthome technology and green features to make your home more efficient, convenient, and comfortable. Smarthome technology covers a range of features from security to programmable temperature controls. Using less heating during the day when you’re away from home saves money, but by programming it, you can have it come on before you return home so that you don’t enter a cold house on a winter’s day. There is a wealth of technology to consider so it’s worthwhile investigating, especially if you’re building your own home and can build it into your home.

These are just some of the simple things that can turn an ordinary home into an extraordinary one, with a real feeling of luxury.
